In a separate document, [Alonzo Heyward] family attorney Archie Sanders III filed a response to the city's and officers' motions to dismiss the lawsuit.

The city and officers' attorneys had argued that the family lacked standing to file a lawsuit on behalf of Mr. Heyward's children.
